Dr. (Prof.) Amit Javed is one of India’s most accomplished Gastrointestinal, GI Oncology, and Bariatric Surgeons, with more than 25 years of advanced surgical experience. He currently serves as Principal Director – GI, GI Oncology, Minimal Access & Bariatric Surgery at Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI), Gurugram, one of India’s leading tertiary care hospitals.

Renowned for managing high-risk and complex abdominal cancers, Dr. Javed performs over 1,000 major GI and bariatric surgeries annually, consistently achieving outcomes comparable to leading international centers. His clinical expertise is supported by elite training at AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, University of California San Francisco (UCSF), and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), New York.

A respected academician and former faculty at G.B. Pant Hospital, Dr. Javed has authored 50+ peer-reviewed publications and has trained numerous surgeons in advanced GI and oncological procedures. His landmark achievement includes being the first surgeon in India to successfully perform a Whipple’s procedure on a pregnant patient with pancreatic cancer, highlighting his exceptional surgical judgment and skill.

He served as Assistant Professor in Abdominal Transplant Surgery at UCSF, USA, and pursued Advanced Thoracic & GI Oncology Training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York.

His achievements include being the first surgeon in India to perform Whipple’s surgery in pregnancy, Best Paper Award from Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology, and over 50 international scientific publications. He previously headed GI Surgery at multiple Fortis hospitals.
